No sooner is a seat around the stone table occupied than the vista-scape shimmers, the sounds of nature falling mute.  The scrollcase, previously transluscent is now perfectly tactile.  The lid secured by a silver-fabric frog, easy to unhook and twist off.

Inside there is a roll of parchment and, withdrawing it, it is plainly a sheef of birch bark.  Unfurling the thin layer, delicate writing becomes visible:
